SANG TABOU

Break the cycle

A non-governmental, non-profit organization called “SANG TABOU” was created to fight for the knowledge of the Congolese girl who is growing up in total ignorance of different diseases capable of breaking her femininity.

Shaped like a woman’s uterus with its curves, the black defines the taboo around a woman’s womb and her femininity. When the taboo is lifted or broken, different lives are saved, restored and their conditions are improved. Thus, the cycle is broken because it is the beginning of a new life, more colorful like the flowers on the logo that come out of the vase from the darkness to the light.
The NGO Sang Tabou focuses on the personal experiences of young girls affected by menstrual abnormalities or menstruation.

FINDINGS

Since we have been taking on some cases, we find that the majority of girls/women with menstrual disorders that we assist have all of these conditions. Hence the importance of early detection. Our wish is to create a culture of exchange, a platform of information and mutual aid in order to improve the living conditions of those affected.

CREATION

Having had the opportunity to benefit from appropriate care abroad, the founder of the NGO Sang Tabou noted that society does not emphasize the social impact that menstrual abnormalities can have on the person affected. The sharing of experience is almost non-existent, leaving the young girl with no reference point and no adequate support, or no support at all for lack of the necessary financial means. It is in this context that the NGO Sang Tabou is working, with the support of various partners.
